Hi There

This is my first post. I am a photographer and about to upgrade my 2008 MBP for the new 15" model. I am understand that aperture uses the graphics quite a bit but would like some advice as to if it is going to make a big difference if i upgrade from the base level MBP to the higher spec? I only use the MBP for email, web,a little photoshop and a lot of time in Aperture, working with large batches of high res images from amy Canon 5D2. Many Thanks.

I'd go w/the higher spec mainly for the better video card. I went with the 17" model myself (which, base, has the same video card as the high spec 15"). It's been a great system. Best thing that you can do for Aperture is to bump the RAM up to 8GB (I did this aftermarket, Crucial) and use an SSD for Library disk (again, I did this aftermarket, Samsung). The SDD made a HUGE difference for me in Aperture.

Go with the higher spec'd 15 and upgrade the ram and SSD if you can. Then you'll see a lot of improvement in speed.
