With so many people in doubt about or discussing which MacBook Pro to get, I created a poll to check which will be the favorite model, if any. Which one will you get?

I ended up going 14" M1 Max / 64GB / 2TB, was really torn between it and 16" M1 Max / 32GB / 1TB, but I mostly use the MacBook docked and connected to monitor, so decided to go with smaller size since I don't use the mac screen as much

I have been waiting in the new M1 MPB. However, after seeing the actual product options and cost, I am thinking of getting the current M1 MB Air instead, as this is half the cost (or maybe 60-70% of cost with 512 GB memory and 16 RAM) of 14" M1 MBP. As I am not a heavy user and use external monitor, and travel some, I have always liked the Air form factor.

I still need to see the new MBP in the store, but does anyone see a big reason not to get MP Air instead, especially for smaller size for travel?

I do not see a reason why you should get the new Pro. You should go with the Air or with something else.

The new machines are expensive. And, ultimately, they won't do anything that the cheaper machines cannot. If you like the Air and don't need heavy weight specs. then go for it. All Apple Silicon PCs are going to be very fast.

Do the gpu cores make a difference in graphics or just affect the speed of doing tasks

Well unless you are talking about a static image then most graphics are how fast you can process information. So a game is 10000x of information sent and processed from your GPU.

Nobody seems to be getting the maxed out version...
It might be that for a lot of us, we don’t need the completely maxed out versions because our work-flow doesn’t demand it. I went 16” 10/16/16 1TB, and that is way more than I would ever need, but I also intend to keep the MBP for at least 5-7 years if not more.

I think that the maxed versions is may be better suited for those hard-core users whose work-flows demand that type of power/storage, etc. Plus, it’s a huge chuck of change that even in my wildest fantasies I wouldn’t be able to afford. I’d rather be realistic about my needs and put that extra savings elsewhere.

I can't decide on an SSD of 16” 10/16/16: 512Gb or 1TB, then the color: Silver or SG?
512Gb model is available for pickup, but on the other hand, it will take up to one month to get 1TB model delivered

1 Tb is the way to go. Also SG looks much better than plain Silver.

Ditto almost, Silver instead. I didn't see it in the poll list..
It is not in the poll list because I can only add up to 20 entries, so it is not possible to include every combination. I put the standard ones and tried to be as objective as possible. But it seems like many of "pro" users are going with custom MacBook Pros, probably because they think the standard memory or storage is not enough.

I felt the M1 Max 16 with 64GB and 2TB was the right combination.

That was me. I've since cancelled my order though as I don't really need a machine like that. I just wanted it. :)

I'd actually go with the Pro level processor if I ordered one again, otherwise same specs, but I think I'll get something else eventually.
