Happy Christmas fellas,

I'm thinking of getting a new Macbook Pro and want to buy it from the UK store Currys as they do a good finance deal.

There is a choice between a new i5 or a slightly older i7 model (running snow lepoard) for almost the same price.

It would be really easy to upgrade the OS myself so....

Which do you think I should pick?

Specs are here...

i5 (running lion):http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/apple-md313b-a-macbook-pro-13-3-laptop-silver-11627380-pdt.html

i7 (running snow lepoard):http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/apple-mc724b-a-macbook-pro-13-laptop-09809603-pdt.html

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Anyone?

Personally I would go with more horsepower, therefore the i7.

If you decide on the i5, make sure you know what you are getting as the model number they quote is for late 2011, but the processor number listed in the advertisement is for early 2011.

It'll be running Logic Pro and Final Cut (light usage)

Geekbench scores:
MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011) Intel Core i7-2620M 2.7 GHz (2 cores) 6853
MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011) Intel Core i5-2435M 2.4 GHz (2 cores) 6096

What you're going to do with it is pretty much irrelevant since there's no other difference between them (HDD/GPU/RAM) and they're the same price (the £21 for Lion is negligible).

Get the i7, more horsepower for the same price.
