So I recently was gifted two MacBooks that someone no longer uses because they recently upgraded. I am planning on keeping one and giving the other away. I'd like some opinions as to which one I should keep for myself. I will be using it for a secondary MacBook when I travel as I have one of the newest ones. Here are the details on both MacBooks:

MacBook (Mid 2010) (MacBook7,1) 13"
Mac OS X 10.11.6
Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.40 GHz
4GB 1067 MHz DDR3

MacBook Pro (Mid 2007) (MacBook Pro3,1) 15"
Mac OS X 10.11.6
Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2.40 GHz
4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

There are no issues with either computer physically. They are both in really great shape. Also, was wondering if it would be worth downgrading the one I'd keep to OS X Mavericks for performance reasons or if it wouldn't make that big of a difference? Not sure what the downside would be of running an older operating system either.

Thanks in advance!

The MacBook (Mid 2010) (MacBook7,1) 13" is better overall.

I'd replace its HDD with a cheap SSD, it would make it much faster for day to day usage.

I would keep the 2010 as it is going to be more useful. The only reason I would switch it up is if there is someone in particular you want to give it to and you know they would be able to get more use out of the newer machine.
