I plan on purchasing a MBP for video editing in FCPX. I will do some editing on the MBP screen itself, but 80% of the time editing is done on an external color grading monitor, using the MBP purely just to power the thing.
Before you suggest an iMac or a Pro, I do need this thing to be portable for various reasons.
It's quite important to me that the MBP runs FCPX smoothly, even dealing with RAW and high quality formats and high resolutions.
I am completely open to a used/refurbished one, (maximum 2 years old) as long as it's capable. No need for a retina screen as using external monitor. Also the screen size for the laptop itself isn't important for the above reason (so a 13" or 15.4" is fine).
I'm looking at one at the moment for under $1400...
