Ive a bunch of various types of Media I want to play, using one standard app. Which one would you recommend?

Ive found Quicktime wont play half the files I throw at it, and have best sucess with MPlayer although I dont like its split menubar/window layout.

I had the same problem.

I downloaded both m player and VLC.

I still like quicktime and after updating the codecs it seems to play everything (so far anyway)
There are a couple of codecs you'll need.
Off the top of my head: Divx, ac3

Is there any skin for vlc to make the interface more like quicktime's? i too am not too fond of two windows for one app, its just not mac!! ;)

Add to codecs to QT.

Google on:
divx
Xvid
3vix

WMV3 codec for Mac just ain't there.

Cheers, Ill 'codec-up' my Quicktime tonight as I do like the QT interface best. I found it is choppy when playing network files though, Id expect I need to adjust cache settings to compensate.
