Which model 2010 MP is equivalent to MP 2.8 8-core 2008?

Speed for speed, power for power, which would use say is similar or better? The 12 core is just too much price wise.. your thoughts which model would be best to go for?..

Depends what you plan to use it for. Bot the 3.33Ghz 6-core and 2.4Ghz 8-core will be better performers.

I think the sweet spot buy coming up will be the 2009 2.66 Octo refurbs.

thanks for the responses guys. i'm really tempted to pick up another MP 2008 2.8GHz or even the 3.2GHZ as the top of the line 2010 MP is going to be way too high. Then I thought about getting one of the entry 2010's but never thougth about a refurb 2009, are they worth considering -- or are the entry 2010's that much more expensive than an equivalent 2009 model?

If the entry level 2.8 and 3.2 w3530 and w3565 have the B1 flashed in them or not.. if they do, then yes.. get one as you will be able to get the w3680 and just stick it in there, if not... I wouldn't bother unless you have 3800-4000 to spend on the 6-core... you are better off with the refurb 2.66 or 2.93, or 3.33, but get the low end 2.66 and buy for 600 dollars the 3.33 processor.. it will be cheaper in the long run and you won't have to spend 1200 or more to update to it.

I will let you know as an apple engineer is going to get back with me with regards if the low end nehalem's have the B1 stepping revised firmware in them..

P.S.: The 2.8 entry level is 2499.99 the same price as the 2.66 on the 09... however the 2.8 is the same thing as the 09 but it was never used on the 09's.. all the w35xx series bloomfields are the same and can use all the way up to the w3580 which is what I now have.

a refurb 2.66 might still be 2149 - grab it if you can then get the w3580 and you will be set.. IF AND ONLY IF THE B1 STEPPING ISN'T ON THE ENTRY LEVEL QUADS.
