As I am getting ready for my MSc which begins in summer, I am also planning to get my first Mac when the back to school deal begins.

I am going to get the 13'' MBP and I also plan to buy a monitor because I will be mostly using it at home.
I will also be buying a wireless keyboard, a magic mouse and some speakers to complete my setup. Besides that I will have my Xbox 360 with me so I am thinking which monitor I should get for such a setup.

I am going for a 23-24'' monitor and I was thinking that the best choice would be to have 2 HDMI ports so that I can connect both systems to the monitor and also plug the speakers if there's a mini jack.
The thing is that few monitors have 2 HDMI ports, while most TV/Monitors have a plethora of ports so I am wondering if I should go for a TV/Monitor instead.

If I get a monitor I would be able to connect the XBOX to the HDMI/VGA port and the MBP to the DVI port but I would have to connect the speakers to the MBP when using my laptop and to the monitor every time I want to turn on my 360.

I have also read that there are various issues with certain monitors when connecting them via HDMI with a MBP, so still I am not sure if HDMI is the way to go, although it sounds as the optimal solution at first.

Are there any suggestions for something that will work 100% both with my MBP and X360? My price range is around $300 if it matters by the way.

Thanks in advance!
