Lost in Thought
I am going to purchase an MXO 2 Mini to connect my laptop to an external monitor, for use with FCP6. I have heard that the MXO 2 Mini works well with a computer monitor, provided that the monitor has a "dot for dot" or similar setting and is 1920x1080 resolution (and and of course has a HDMI input).

The folks at Matrox said they had used a MXO 2 with an older Dell (I forgot the model number) via HDMI and it worked fine. I was thinking of going with a Dell 2408, but it looks like it's been discontinued and it's "replacement" is 1920x1200.

I am looking for a 24" around the $500 price point. I appreciate any recommendations.

If the monitor does 1:1 pixel mapping (dot-for-dot), 1920x1200 will be fine. As far as I know, until recently a 1920x1080 computer monitor was very rare.

I guess if the Matrox guys say it's okay to use a computer monitor, it presumably is, but I thought the MXO2 was meant for TVs.
