I'd be interested to hear reviews from Mac users about particular NAS systems that work well with:

iMac
iPad (WiFi)
iPod (WiFi)
Droid (VZW)

I'm considering a QNAP (TS-219P+) or Synology (DS-211j). I want to be able to play my media (music and video) within my house and stream to my mobile (Droid). My wife would also like to show pictures to friends outside of our house.

The QNAP seems to do this well with QMedia but I'd love hear some first hand reviews. Synology's apps seem a little more polished so likewise on this.

I'm struggling to see anything on Synology's site about playing video over the web. Does anybody do this?

Also I'm very concerned about m4v compatibility as all my movies are in this format.

Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a QNAP TS-119P+ connected to my Airport Extreme.

It plays m4v files without problems. Playing video and showing photos over the web also is no problem.

Accessing the QNAP with my iPhone and iPad is smooth (WiFi and internet).

I don't have a Droid so I can't tell about this.

I'm quite pleased with my QNAP all in all.
