I'm considering upgrading my GT120 in my MP5.1, but don't want to pay much more than around 200€. Main use would be to provide some GPU acceleration in Capture One, Lr CC and PS CC mainly, iMovie perhaps. Not really gaming. Moving to a 4K display is under consideration (currently running a good old 30" 2560x1600 HP LP3065 display)

I identified the following options:

- a used GTX680 2GB, can easily be flashed to appear as a native Mac card (boot screen and native support), but used (and potentially old) so no warranty
- a new GTX960 2GB, approx the same perf as the GTX680 in a more power efficient package + new means warranty, but no boot screen or native OSX support (careful with those OS updates...)
- a new R9 380, in 2GB or 4GB version (hardly more expensive than the 2GB version), possibly better OpenCL perfs but no boot screen and patchy OSX support (?!?)

What would you do? Is the R9 3xx support still problematic in El Capitan?

Note: I tested used GTX570 and R9 280x in the past (both purchased used for not much more than 100€) - gave up in each case as I found the GTX570 too noisy and the R9 280x frequently produced glitches.
