I bought the WD50000BEVT 500GB drive and installed it in my aluminum Macbook. It's working fine.
The Western Digital drive is ever so slightly louder than the 160GB Fujitsu drive that comes with the MacBook, which is dead silent. I can hear the new drive when in a very quiet room.
