In the blink of an eye is a nice book.

Film Art - Thompson, Bordwell (very, very much content)

A good editor is a good storyteller, so it's important to focus on the craft more than the latest features.

Most books are technical and focused on being current, which you can learn from a lot of sources.

This book is out of print (but available really cheap used):
Editing Techniques with Final Cut Pro by Michael Wohl

http://www.amazon.com/Editing-Techn...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278013170&sr=8-1

It does a good job talking about different cutting styles, framing, things that you need to know regardless of what edit suite you use.

Also check out Story by Robert McKee, buy the hardcover.

For more Final Cut stuff, since you live in Miami, try the local user group, it looks like they just revamped their website:
http://www.soflafcpug.com
It used to be very active, I haven't been in a while.

Ok cool. I'm currently a PC user but see how the FCP book fits in when it comes to editing theory (I found most video editors to use the same underlying principles anyway) and will look further into the Murch one as well :D

Ok I got the In the Blink of an Eye book as well as a bunch from the library.

Yet I'm going to read the Murch book first :D
