My 7-year-old daughter realized it this morning. I took me by complete surprise.
Left: MBA 11-inch, mid-2013
Right: MBP 16-inch, 2019

I don't know why you would think the keyboard would be a different size. Standard alphanumeric keyboards have a key spacing with 3/4" centres.

Just astounded me that after 8 years the size of the keyboards of apple’s smallest laptop is still the same exact size as its latest so much larger model.

I always felt that the keyboard in the mbp 15/16“ are undersized and this somewhat confirms it. I personally feel the size is so much more adequate in the smaller MBA. Wished the larger mbp had a number pad, too.

Anyway, just a personal take!
 
Number pad means off center keyboard. No thanks. Also the speaker grills would have to go.
