Hi,

Guys which one do you think is faster in terms of internet use( safari ), itunes, mail app, slingbox,

Unit 1:

powerbook g4 1.5Ghz with 1.25gb ram

Unit 2:

thinkpad x61 intel core 2 duo 2.0Ghz with 2gb ram

i dont know if it matters but pb has 64mb dedicated memory x61 has shared memory.

Thanks,

The x61 obviously. Core 2 Duo is a current processor, G4 was discontinued 2 years ago.

depends if you get into the debate about windows machines slowing down over time unless you have implemented a frequent clean out regimen.... the G4 will still be fast even though it was discontinued two years ago.

Thinkpad, hands down. Anyone who tries to reason you into believing a G4 will outpace a c2d is someone you should stay far, far away from in matters involving reality.

As the owner of a 1.25GHz G4 and 2GHz Core 2 Duo, the winner hands down is the Intel. The G4 is an extremely sluggish processor these days, and unless you are just using it for basic web apps, some iLife, and maybe light Photoshop then I can no longer recommend it.

The G4 will never be fast.

i didnt intend to say it will be faster .... merely that G4 are still quick for simple web surfing and mail... which was the stated purpose...
