Which phone for a Verizon...

Last go around, the ATT phone had all the bands and could be used on CDMA and GSM. This time, the 7plus att has no CDMA. I want to switch everyone in my family over to the Verizon unlimited. Most of us will need new phones. I want to still upgrade on the release day for the next iPhone. What would be the best plan? Would you sell and buy new phones for cash? You can't just upgrade at anytime with Verizon like you can on t mobile right? I would have to wait a year? Our phones are all unlocked right now.

Any clue how much you get at Verizon for trading in a 7 plus 128?
