So no Air 2 next year and I don’t fancy buying an iPhone with a side Face ID hole. I don’t like the sound of the Pro iPhone colours. 2027 I don’t fancy a curved glass iPhone. I would switch to the Google pixel but those phones over heat very bad.

So looks like holding into the current iPhone longer. I expect all phones to go full screen but a corner camera makes no sense when on paper the Pixel looks better and has a proper centre camera.

Perhaps I will end up with an IPhone 18e? The constant redesigns of old Android phones really put me off. Why not just keep the current Dynamic Island? Moving it to the side makes no sense.

So they cancel the standard iPhone for 2026, no air 2 and a fold which is very debatable and doesn’t look good either.

I think all these new models are a risk. Air never sold well. Apple have had a good run but even Apple have said sales will fall dramatically due to no standard model? And I’m not sure why you would go from a 17 pro to a 18 pro I can’t see anything worth upgrading to seems more of a downgrade?

Big question will they keep standard iPhones longer even as an E model? With the current 16e design no curved glass no corner cut out?

Also interested to hear anybody else who doesn’t like the sound of these future iPhones?

It's all rumours at this point. Last I checked at some point the iPhone 16 and then the iPhone 17 were supposed to have a pinhole camera etc…
Too early to tell…

I want it know of people will buy these phones if current rumours are true well aware plans can change like today’s air 2 rumours ..
With the current rumours, I would still happily upgrade to a 18 Pro Max, heard about the new 2nm A20 Pro chip + new 6 channel LPDDR5X RAM, sounds like the performance will see a decent jump, I have an upgrade available on my 2nd line next year so I will definitely consider an upgrade to 18 PM.
I personally doubt the pinhole is happening.

I probably won’t upgrade, though not because of any of the features you mentioned, but because my 17 Pro will last for a good few years. We’ll see what the 2027 model of iPhone brings and see if it’s worth upgrading to.

Random, but is everyone really bored this Christmas or something? Literally the last five forum posts I’ve read feel like some weird rage bait or click bait.

I mean, it's MacRumors. Conjecture and made-up realities are the fuel for everyone with a keyboard and a set of opinions to share. Truth-on-the-ground pops that balloon, so people move on to the next "what if..."

To the OP: Buy based on need vs. available products. There's no point in chasing speculation. You're buying a tool. Either it does what you need it to do or it does not. When it does not, you replace it. Otherwise, you keep using it. The end.

after careful consideration I'm leaning toward a flip phone - they seem to avoid most of the issues noted on the pages of this forum

I doubt they will change as these rumours have been going for 2 years now
Seriously? They always change. I mean always. People hype up the rumors and then complain when they don’t come true. But sure Santa will bring this exact phone. 😂

If the iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max comes out with the three leaked colors I won’t be getting one, not unless they add Space Black . . . I’m not a fan of the three leaked colors.

It is recommended to always wait for next years model, it'll always be better, never buy today's tech, it's overrated and outdated the moment you have it in your hands...

Looking ahead, the iPhone is still evolving, albeit somewhat slowly and conservatively. It's not perfect, but there's hope for improvement.

There's no dominance in phones anymore. Get an iPhone if you want iOS and the ecosystem. Get a Samsung/Samsung/OnePlus etc if you want an Android.

For myself, I'm not looking at rumors 10 months away. I have the base 17 now and I'm really satisfied with it. I like how it's not as heavy as the Pro, and I really enjoy the 120hz. Maybe I get the 18 Pro next fall. Maybe I get the 18 base the spring after. And I really dont care about colors, I have a case anyway.
