- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Tap Edit in the corner of the screen to see the networks known to your device.
- Take either of these actions
Did you use another device such as an iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac on those Wi-Fi networks? Also, some carriers like AT&T have agreements to connect to secure wi-fi in public, you will see this as "Passpoint Secure" etc. Here's what happened today, and it has me creeped out a bit. I was shopping and went to numerous stores, including a Walmart's.
On the way home I'm checking the phone and I saw a text that failed to send. It was to two contacts I have. It was all jibberish. I deleted it.
Per the previous post, I looked at my public Wifis and one was Walmart's which I did not put there, not even sure if they have one. I was miles away from the public Wifis that I do have listed.
Was I hacked? What should I do about it?

Pretty sure. I cannot find that on the phone, probably hidden like most common things are.
Also didn't see anything like "Passport Secure."
Probably not. "Butt texting". Like in the old days of accidental phone dialing due to sitting down with a phone in the pocket, this day and age, not unusual for fingers, palms touching things on an unlocked display and doing stuff. Add in widgets, notifications that will do something when touched, can get accidental things happen if not locking the screen when done looking at your phone. But the failed text must have been created by a hacker, no?
Settings > Cellular
Or: Settings > General > About > Carrier
It will be at the very bottom of Settings > Wifi > Edit, Managed Networks. For ATT, would see "AT&T Wi-Fi Passpoint" and "attwifi".

FaceID and Raise to Wake probably does not help with this as well.
Another thing is, are you signed on to a Mac at home perhaps? Someone could have typed those messages as gibberish from the Mac, like a child, etc.
Don't have to tap it. Default view of that field is another place where carrier is listed. The second one: When I tap "Carrier" all it does is toggle back and forth to: "IMS Status".

And Consumer Cellular is not ATT but are reselling ATT bandwidth, so will not be seeing any ATT customer extras like ATT free hotspots.
I have seen lot of folks with FaceId unlock the phone after they press lock button looking at the phone. The phone is unlocked when you put it in the lock, it call or text people as the phone moves in the pocket.I tried both of them before making the previous post.
"Settings/Cellular": The closest that had was "Carrier Services" which only shows that I'm with Consumer Cellular.

It doesn't show any "Managed Networks," only "Known Networks."
I keep the phone in my front pocket and always lock the screen.
As long as you don't think I was hacked then I guess I won't worry about it.
Thanks for the info.![]()
