my options for an 8gb kit on a 2010 mbp 15 i5:
owc
kingston
crucial

let me know which of these 3 you have gone with or would go with! thanks!

I've always gone with crucial.
Had crucial in my old MBP, and installed for two friend, my brothers and my sisters laptops. Never any problems!

I can't say if it will be the best stuff for your MPB but I can tell you about my experience with Crucial as a whole.

I've used Crucial for years and think there fantastic!
Not that it matters much on a Mac but there RAM overclocks like a dream.
They are a very good brand and I've used a lot of there products over the years.
Just my thoughts on the subject.

-- Edit --
All three are reliable brands so I would just get the cheapest.
Very true.

I have always gone with OWC. Their prices are competitive, their products top-notch (with a lifetime guarantee), and their customer service has always been superb. The great customer service has always been the real selling point for me -- hard to find it anywhere else when dealing with computer parts, imho.

OWC FTW. :D

I've always used Crucial.eu being in Greece but if I was in the USA I'd go with OWC. A friend maxed out his mac pro from them recently. Very good prices and great service.

other. Supertalent. reasoning;

better ram at a lower price. i've been a system builder for lots of years, and have used only STT for the last several hundred systems (PC and Mac).

faster specs (SPD), cheaper than brand names, and lifetime warranty. doesn't get better than that!

It really doesn't matter- all those brands are good

Crucial used to be one of the best back in the day (maybe 5 years ago), but their quality has gone downhill a bit IMO. Or maybe I've just had bad luck with their RAM recently. Their support is good, though, and if you have any issues with the RAM it is usually no problem to get it replaced. But there shouldn't have been issues in the first place.
