I'm after some more RAM for my MacBook (it only has 512mb currently), so which option would be best. THis is what I currently have:

iMac: 1.5GB
MacBook: 512MB

Option 1

iMac: 2GB (2x1GB)
MacBook: 1GB (2x512)

Option 2

iMac 1.5GB (1x1GB, 1x512mb)
MacBook 1.25GB (1x1GB, 1x256)

I'm leaning towards option one even though it's a little more expensive, but it means RAM will be paired on both Mac's.

Exactly, option one is good because of paired RAM. That is always a smoother experience for the newer Macs from all the stories I've heard. :)
