Hi all-

I was just looking at the current refurbished MacBook Pro's that Apple is offering...can anyone explain why the faster model with a larger HD has a lower original price as well as refurbished price? Which graphics chip is better?

Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
15.4-inch glossy widescreen display
2GB memory
120GB hard drive
6x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB of GDDR3 memory
Original price: $2,499.00
Your price: $1,499.00

Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
15.4-inch widescreen display
2GB memory
200GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 memory
Original price: $1,999.00
Your price: $1,349.00

Thanks. Any other advice on refurbished macbook pros appreciated!

Dave

it's all about the numbers

The first was originally a step up mbp 2500.00. The second, newer one, while having more features, was an entry level mbp, 1999.

Apple puts their discounts on the refurb site based upon discounts of the orginal listed price, which seems a bit, well, stupid.

Definitely go for the second.

But it's with 8600M. Interesting, is it because of the graphics card, the price of the 2nd laptop is lower?

in my opinion only the most recent refurbs at the apple store are good deals.

as said before, since the base the refurb price on the new price at the time the % rebate means nothing for older MBP's because the more recent models have better GPU, larger HD, better screen......

go for the 2.4 GHz. the 8600GT is much better.
