I have the older 30" and 23" displays. Love them to death (no glare etc.) but they get really hot and actually heat up the room. It's amazing how much the room cools down after you turn them off.

Do the LCD displays run any cooler then the LCD ones?

I have found that the LED displays runs significantly cooler than their Cold Cathode counterparts. But of course, it all depends on the brightness you run it at.
 
An LED screen of equal size will be cooler than an LCD display. It will also use less power and should give more consistent and greater contrast.
