Trying to decide on which Series watch to purchase. I understand the technical differences between the models, GPS, LTE, Water Proofing, Memory size, et al.

But I was hoping someone would be out there like myself, and would hear their experiences with the Apple Watch.

I am in my mid 40's, overweight, I am sure I have high blood pressure, doctors appointments are set up for the new year, and looking for a the best series to help me get me healthy again, or at least healthier, family history of heart issues, and joint issues, that I would like to avoid having to go through, and the drama for my kids seeing it happen.

So for heart monitoring, weight lose tracking, exercise, maybe even sleep tracking, as I am sure being overweight has not helped with that, what series would you recommend, your personal experiences would be great to hear as well. I do not ned LTE, and I am sure I will grow with other apps, as I use the watch more.

Am I better getting a Series 1 with the rumored Series 4 having EKG ability, I know I shouldn't believe rumors, at a lower price to upgrade next year.

Most likely I will be buying, and paying a premium, from Amazon, I have lots of gift cards, and Hilton Points, so it would be virtually free, so Series 2 is still a possibility to purchase from them.

Many thanks, and Happy New Year

My suggestion would be the series 3 GPS model and take advantage of it now versus for waiting for some unannounced model. It's fast, it has strong battery life and you have all the abilities you need to help track your fitness status.

And I would not necessarily wait for series 4 with the EKG, being that's just a rumor and there's no confirmation if Apple will even release series for Apple Watch in fall 2018.

Also, between the aluminum and stainless. The aluminum is lightweight and uses a display similar to the iPhone, where as the stainless is significantly heavier over the aluminum, but it does have the sapphire display that will give you the added protection against damage.

You can still find the Series 2 Apple Watch, but for the price difference, I would just opt the series 3.

What kind of exercise do you think you’ll do?

If it’s indoor stuff like a treadmill then the benefits of GPS aren’t really there so series 1 would be an option.

If you’re going to walk or run outdoors, then the question would be whether the phone will be with you or not. If yes, then again series 1 is good enough.

Finally, I’d think of the money. A used series 1 is quite cheap. A series 1 from Apple is not so bad, but then the additional cost to go for a series 3 isn’t too much more!

For perspective I’ve got a series 3 LTE after having a series 1 and before that series 0.

I’d go with a series 3 (either gps or lte) if you are looking at all Options. The chip in them is more efficient than previous models and works better with similar me if the exercise apps. If the series 3 is too expensive, I’d recommend a series 2 over the series 1 as you get the gps which is helpful for exercise tracking. I have a series 2 and use it for running/cycling.
