I also find the battery life of the 13PM to be insane. However, more is always better. And it’s not infrequent that I can’t get to a charger. So, what settings can I enable/disable to extend my usage before needing a charge each day? Thanks.

A few neat hacks:
1. Enable optimised charging, though not having easy access to charger might hurt.
2. Enable low power mode. But you need to reenable it every day.
3. Don't run any processing power intensive apps.
4. Lower the screen brightness to the bare minimum you can tolerate.
5. Turn off all background refresh.
6. Turn off location services unless you absolutely need them.
7. Find out every power hungry apps and remove any you don't need.

Or just switch your phone into airplane mode and stop using it.

The iPhone 13 after setup and a few days of indexing has great battery life. Without turning everything off to spare battery. I have everything turned on and can get 12 hours of battery with heavy usage. Gaming, YouTube, forum surfing and Apple Music. The battery on the 13 is insanely awesome. At least for me. Don’t pay a thousand dollars and not use the entire device. Just my opinion of course, it’s your device.

It sounds like you’d benefit from the MagSafe battery pack, maybe?

Turn off as many background features to the bare minimum.

1. Enable Optimise Charging for overnight charging
2. Lower the screen brightness to the barest minimum
3. Turn off Background Refresh
4. Turn off Location Services
5. Remove or limit usage of power hungry apps (browsers & YT are power hungry)
6. Turn off Wifi at night before sleeping
7. Bluetooth can be kept on esp. if you have an iWatch (though turn off Wifi on the iWatch)
8. Turn on Do Not Disturb or Airplane Mode (though not necessary generally)
9. Turn off Hey Siri
10. Enable Dark Mode, if available/supported

Doesn't optimized charing not even work WITHOUT a bunch of locations services enabled (aka contradicting point 4 and 6)

The only time I've ever gotten notifications about it working is when I have System Customizations, and Significant locations on...

Does it even do anything without those services on? I've always wondered this

Heh, typical apple fashion, they wont work without location services etc, which I do mention turning them off. Even with those on, optimised charging work like 10% of the time for me anyways.

Yeah, that's kind of what I've always wondered about it. Ok this helps with battery life, but how much am I losing with all these extra services on that IMO seem draining (significant locations on always tracking, system customization changing how the phone actually charges)

Despite what Apple states, optimized battery charging still works if you turn off location services and that the battery level is below 80%, at least based on my experience using the feature.
Generally, I turn on location services whenever the GPS is needed. Otherwise, it stays off and optimized battery charging still works.

The question was: “what settings will make my battery life better?” as in run time, not ultimate lifetime load cycles.

Using Optimize Battery Charging will do absolutely nothing to increase run time. It’s purpose is to reduce lifetime wear a tiny bit, not increase daily runtime.

Right I get that. And according to Apples site, to use optimized battery charging properly, you have to turn on settings that will reduce run time. So NOT using optimized battery charging, in theory, would increase run time, correct?

It only keeps the battery charge off of 100% for a few hours before charging it to 100% supposedly right before you wake up - if you live a regular schedule. Those few hours a day sitting at 80% instead of 100% aren’t going make much difference in the long run for year over year battery longevity.
If Apple really cared about battery life span, (not run time) they’d give us a toggle switch to only charge to 80% maximum. That’s why the current implementation of Optimize Battery Charge is a joke - on us.

Nope.
