A family member wants me to upgrade their mid-2009 MacBook Pro 13-inch to a SSD. They have a 250 HDD right now, but use hardly any space. They just want startup speed and app openly speed.

No issue, but not sure on an older MBP like this which SSD to get from OWC? They want a 120GB, but not sure if last year OWC 3G SSD is good or one of 6G models? Would a 2009 machine not benefit from the 6G models, or could they?

Finally, is there any issue updating the MBP since it has the motion sensor to stop the spinning drive if falling, unlike the desktops I have upgraded?

Thank you.

Intel 320 series would fit the bill. Get an 80GB or 120GB drive, should be enough.

I just installed the new Intel 320 series for a friend, in his 2009 MBP.

I've got one in my 2010 MBP and it's been very fast and reliable thus far.

Great advice everyone. Thank you.

The Intel models are recommended over OWC then? Thanks.
