I have a mid-2007 black macbook, which brand and model do you recommend? 256 GB is enough.
my current HDD is pretty slow while loading my iTunes library or copying files to an external drive, it's also making more noise than before!

fine one that matches your sata speed on your macbook. its not worth speeding a fortune on something that your computer can't take advantage of...

that would be sata 1.5gbps. found it out on mac tracker... enjoy

Get a Samsung 470, its a SATA II drive, and as such will be bottlenecked by your interface, but they are incredibly reliable, good price and you will benefit enormously from the increased speed.

(my other option would be Intel 320)

I just bought an intel 320 120 GB from new egg ($130 after rebate). I know my computer will bottleneck it, but if I'm replacing my optical drive to have two hard drives does it matter whether I put the SSD or my old HDD in the optibay? (b/c the optical drive port is P ATA not SATA).

OP, are you replacing your old drive or are you going to have two HDs?
