I have an early 2008 Mac Pro and want to buy an SSD for Snow Leopard and apps. Price aside, what's the fastest/most reliable drive and what is the preferred method for installing it in one of the MP drive bays?*

*I'd prefer to avoid a custom install -- is there an adapter sled made for SSDs to slide into an HD bay?

Intel Gen2 are well tested and recommended in a Mac Pro. They also work with Raid cards if that ever becomes an issue down the road. Just make sure you already have the latest firmware fitted.

Is this a concern if I will NOT be using RAID? I haven't done any firmware updates on my Mac Pro since I got it in Jan. of 08. Is there a firmware update walkthrough somewhere... I've done it on PC builds many times, but not sure of the process for a Mac.
