Hi

I'm relatively new to experimenting with hardware. I am planning to install this SSD (Intel SSD 320 Series 40GB 9.5mm 2.5 inch SATA2 Solid State Drive) into my iMac 21.5" Mid-2010 3.2GHz Intel Core i3 9GB RAM computer. I am keeping my HDD, so eventually the computer should have both a SSD and a HDD.

I wonder if you guys could give me advice; is this the right SSD I should be using? If so, are any extra cables or mounts needed? I'm aware of how to open the computer and place it. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

both owc and ifixit sell kits to do dual hdd for your computer. they provide the cables, otherwise you will need a sata cable with slimline sata on oneside for the logic board and regular full size sata on the other for the drive.

Considering the somewhat risky procedure and the cost of the owc / ifixit kit you need anyway, why go for only 40GB when even the fastest 128GB SSD drives (Samsung 830, OCZ Vertex 4, ...) can be had these days for under 100$?
