Which 2017 MBP?

Both are mid-2017 machines with 16GB Ram/512GB SSD.

In addition to chip difference and cores, 15" has Radeon Pro 555 with 2GB memory for graphics vs. Intel 650 in 13" (is this difference a big deal?). Weight difference is about 1 LB (both are still less than my current 13" 2011 MBP).

Price difference is $90 more for 15" & AppleCare is $100 more for 15" ?

Surprised that 15" case is lighter and length/width comparable to my current 2011 13" MBP?

2011 13" .95 thick 12.78" L 8.94" W 4.5 LB

2017 15" .61 13.75"L 9.48" W 4 LB

2017 13" .59 11.97" L 8.36" W 3 LB

Which one would you order?

Thx!

I prefer a larger screen and don't have an issue with the size of a 15 so I got a 15 inch. but if price, weight, or specs matters it could depend on what you need. if you prefer a smaller more portable laptop and don't want to spend over $2,000 the 13 is fine. if you require the specs of a quad core cpu then of course the 15 is better. giving you are asking this question I don't think you'll need the quad core cpu and dedicated gpu ( not good for gaming) it comes to price and what you prefer.

What do you use it for?? There is no use us says no we would choose the 13 inch if you want to edit 4K video for professional use.

Honestly, you could spend months looking through all the 13" v 15" posts on here and be none the wiser as everybody's situation is different.

Nobody can answer the question for you - the specs are in black and white - I guess the main deciding factor people can advise on based on their own experiences are around the size and weight - i.e. there's good info on the forums about how people find the different machines to work with on location - trains, planes, cafes etc.

I found the 13" to be the best fit for me - the 15" was too big for me when on the move and as I have an iMac on my desk, I didn't need the larger screen.

Power vs. portability. To be honest, I have been using a 15" MacBook Pro ever since 2009, and I want a smaller one so bad now. Working with that thing on my lap on the couch or in a train simply isn't convenient. Heck, it's even hard to fit it onto some of the smaller tables in coffeeshops comfortably. The new MacBook Pro 15" is obviously smaller than mine, but I'd still take a smaller notebook any day now.

However, back when I bought this 15" machine, it was the only computer I owned, and I didn't even have an external screen for it, despite the fact that I was using it mainly at my desk. So back then, it definitely was the right choice. So yep, your use case is the only thing that can tell you which option is right for you.

Changed Machines yesterday and Monday will have: a 2017 15" MBP 2.8Ghz i7 (quadcore), TB/16GB/512SSD & Radeon Pro 560 (with 4MGB) in Space Grey (Refurb @ $@2,289). Will be adding an external monitor for my home office and invite economical recommendations to go with this machine. Thank you!
