Is Slingbox a good solution? Any happy customers here? Any other solutions that are worth looking at?

I have some friends that have a setup with a "Pinnacle PC TV to go" box that gets a TV signal via a SCART cable from an analog VCR. The pinnacle box has built in wifi and is connected to a wireless network based on a Time Capsule and extended by an Airport Express.

They use it to watch local TV when they are in summerhouses, sometimes in other countries. They bring laptops and watch it through there.

But the video quality isn't all that great. And they have to use a windows laptop or boot their MacBook into Windows with bootcamp!

It would be nice if the client could run in OS X. So that they could watch TV without booting into Windows. If they could also stream over the iPhone that would be sweet too, but not necessary.

It would also be nice if the video quality was better. They are Europe. The analog PAL signal is OK when you watch it on a TV. But through the pinnacle system, the quality is not very good. HD quality is not necessary, but what comes through the pinnacle system is not a nice 720×576 pixels picture. So I guess a good compressing algorithm and nice throughput of a lot of video data would be good, HD or not.

EDIT: Just saw the "The SlingLink TURBO" on the website that seems solve the solution of the slingbox not being wireless by default.
