I bought a Hitachi Touro 1TB 2.5" USB 3.0 drive. Plugged it in and only got about 38MBs from it. Sure enough, it showed up as 480Mbs in system profiler! I plugged it into the left-hand USB port on my 13" rMBP and it showed up as 5Gbs and I got 90MB/s out of it.

Apple's site shows both ports as being USB 3.0, what gives?

I did get 60Mbps read and write with a WD 1TB usb3 drive, and only 30Mbps with a usb2 WD 500Gb drive. I did this on the right hand side port.

My Samsung 840 256Gb SSD in a usb3 enclosure gets 200Mbps read and write.

The internal disk is around 430Mbps.

I'll check both sides out tonight and will let you know.

ok, tested on both sides with my WD 500Gb usb2, WD 1TB usb3 and Samsung 840 250Gb SSD in an icy usb3 enclosure.

same speeds on both usb3 ports.
