I am converting some videos so that they can be played on Portable Video Players.
Some people say that mp4/h264 is the best and most widely used format on Portable Video Players.
However that is not universally so.
It's not the case for one of the main manufactures, Archos.
It's not built into Archos Portable Video Players.
One has to purchase their "video & podcast plugin" to be able to play h264 video.
Also until the new models appeared two years ago Achos players did not even support h264.
So anyone having one of their earlier players is not able to play h264 video.
So I wonder how many other manufacturers don't have h264 compatibility built-in.
Plus what other manufacturers don't even support h264.
So it seems that AVI video file format might be the most universally compatible format.
Please give me your experience about this.
