My father has a MacBook Air 13 (Late 2010) and the original WiFi card inside does not work with 5Ghz connections. I am looking to replace it and was wondering whether to get an Apple or Intel card.

What is the newest Apple WiFi card (for Intel I know) and which brand would you recommend specifically for a MacBook?

Thanks

The original wifi in that model should connect to 5GHz networks. Have you pinpointed the cause? If you haven't, you don't know if a new card in there will work with 5GHz, either.

An AC capable low-profile USB device would be my suggestion.
