There is no retina MBA, do you mean Macbook? Or is this a hypothetical question if there WAS a retina MBA?

If it was the same CPU/RAM/Graphics, it'd be the same computer? Pretty sure the rMB has replaced the MBA as it's significantly better in that particular category, they just keep the MBA around due to component prices making the rMB rather expensive. Once they get that below $999 the MBA will be one more tear-drop towards the graveyard.

Hypothetical

So for the "hypothetical" rMBA...

1) Exactly which CPU would it have?
2) How much RAM?
3) What price would it be?
4) Would it look identical to a current MBA but just with a Retina display (same size trackpad/wedge, etc.)?
5) If yes to the above, would it still have the enormous display bezels?
6) What battery life would you be getting?

These are all important because a notebook purchase is a frequently decided between performance, affordability, design, battery life, and weight.

So you seem to be talking purely about form factor? The new 13" MBP is significantly smaller than the 5+ year old 13" MBA body, so the MBP for sure. It's also thinner.

Assuming same CPU, ram, graphics.

You need to go to an Apple Store and pick up the latest 13" rMPB. It =is= the Air.

I hate the keyboard, the loss of MagSafe and several other changes, but a 13" Air in today's lineup makes no sense.

BTW, even before the latest generation rMPB, the MBA had a bigger footprint than the rMBP.
