So, I'm trying to decide which plan I should go with. Here are my choices:

Messaging Plan:
-Voice: $39.99
-Unlimited Data: $30.00
-Unlimited Messaging: $20.00
-Total......................... $89.99

Tethering Plan
-Voice: $39.99
-2 GB Data + Tethering $45.00
-200 Messages $5.00 (Use an app like TextFree to text people for free)
-Total......................... $89.99

I'm leaning towards the tethering plan because I would love to be able to take my MacBook Pro to school and get on the internet with it there. It would be hard to get used to using an app for all my texting though.

Which plan would you choose?

Messaging for me. I send 10k a month. Though tethering would be nice for my iPad....

Why not just keep the unlimited data and wait for a jailbreak. MyWi will be updated someday and work with 4.0.

Get the unlimited texting!

If you have unlimited data, keep it at all costs.

There will be a jailbreak and an update to MyWi soon, and you can tether without the charge, and you'll actually have the data to use it.

Also, there might be a hack for tethering that doesn't involve jailbreaking, as I'm using now.

What's this hack that doesn't involve jailbreaking that you speak of?

Messaging all the way.

I am of the breed that doesnt have a use for tethering. I have many unlimited uses for unlimited data and unlimited text.

paying $20 extra for the right to use the data I'm already paying for?
no thanks...

Unlimited DATA and MESSAGING.

Tethering has too many disadvantages:

1) Lose Unlimited DATA
2) Costs too much for the data you get (2GB)
3) Will run the battery down on your iPhone VERY quickly

Which plan would you choose?
Neither, because I get free Messaging using a real phone number with a free app called Textfree Unlimited.

And for tethering, many are getting that free as well by jail breaking their iPhone. I will not pay for tethering on principle though, because I already pay for an unlimited data plan. So it makes no sense to me that AT&T is going to charge to tether and then limit the data. Plus the 3G speed in my area is extremely slow, usually no faster than 1MB.

Messaging and Tethering should be part of the current data plans.....period!

How does tethering run down the iPhone battery quickly? I thought the phone had to be connected to the computer for the option of tethering.

Either way, as everyone else has said, messaging + unlimited data!
Now, if only AT&T would allow free iPhone2iPhone texting like they do in Korea (or so I've heard)...
