If memory serves, I want to say the 2010, 2011 iMac's and 2013 iMac's have the space and connectors to easily make a DIY fusion drive setup, but not the model year 2012 iMac's (speaking of the larger size, 27").

Is that correct?

Time to upgrade my old 2008 iMac and I want to setup an iMac with a Fusion Drive setup.

Thank you,

You could setup and 10.8 compatible iMac to have a fusion drive, but at the loss of the optical drive in some of the older models.
