while the Mac Mini M1(bought from Apple Store in the U.S.) does allow 100V-240V, is it really safe to use it plugged into 240v for extended period of time?

I have an upcoming trip and will be staying in a hotel for 3 weeks. I'm thinking about bringing the Mac Mini. The last time I was at this hotel, they had a good 65" TV with 2 or 3 HDMI inputs. The country is 240v only. The hotel did have 110v plugs, but only in the bathroom and bedroom.

If it's built for 240V, it's built for 240V. I'm not sure why you would be worried about this if official support for 240 V is listed right in the specs.

There's no such thing as a "US" Mac mini. Apple use the same model in every region, thus the 100 - 240V PSU, it's just the supplied power cord that's different.

The fact that there aren't loads of people complaining about Mac minis going *pop* in Europe suggests you'll be fine.

In the yesteryear, computers use to have a "selector switch" beside the power supply unit thus allowing the user to switch between 100VAC and 240VAC. In the UK this would be done when a site only allowed 110VAC supplies for the computers and used to hear the occasional pop when the engineers forget to switch the from 110VAC to 240VAC when returning the computer back to the office for maintenance!

Thankfully, modern computers are now fitted with a universal power supply and this removes the need for the selector switch. In short, you will be fine to use the 240VAC at your hotel, you could either use the power adapter for your US socket or purchase an in country 2pin power lead.
