While we wait for the new iPad, and this is my first iPad, I'm going to start downloading iPad specific apps in iTunes so when the new iPad comes in, I'll have all the apps ready to sync and I can't wait to use them. I can't wait to use also some of my universal apps in the iPad to see if it looks and runs better than in iPhone. Do you guys have any suggestion for good iPad specific apps only? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ahhhh, I remember doing this for my first iPad...

Goodreader
Notability
PDF Expert
Corkulous

And, of course,

Infinity Blade!

I have the first generation of iPad and haven't really been using it recently so I am a bit rusty on the old app front so I too will be stalking the app store and with it being the 64gb version I won't have any problem with being a hoarder :p:p

+1 on PDF Expert and Notability.

Also consider:
  • Osmos for iPad
  • Intellicast HD
  • Civilization Revolution
  • Words With Friends HD

In reality though I'd say go easy on a bunch of new apps, leave some for buying later. :D

We are ALL jealous as we all can remember what it was like to get our first iPad.

You are in for a real treat!

Enjoy

Another useful tip for those with large music libraries...

Create an iPad playlist of only the songs you want on there.

I did the same thing weeks before I got my iPad. I was just downloading apps that looked interesting in anticipation of getting one.

KhanAcademy just released a new app. If you're not familiar, it's an educational website with LOTS of videos teaching a variety of subjects. Arguably the single best way for kids to learn at their own pace. I encourage all my friends with kids to use it to supplement the classroom curriculum. It's kind of fun to brush up on stuff I've forgotten since school, all those years ago ...

Netflix/Hulu are staples for me. Subscriptions to those let me cancel my cable subscription, so if it's not on one of these, I don't watch it.
