Hi,

I hear a silent whistling sound from my new Macbook Air 13" with Apple M1 when brightness level is set to 2 or 3 strips.

Do you have the same problem? Note that not all people can hear such sounds, I have sensitive hearing.

I didn't have this problem with my old Macbook 12" Early 2015

A similar sound (near to ultrasonic) usually come from cheap power chargers (not Apple). I expected completely silent work of my Macbook which is fanless.

Keyboard backlite was disabled.

Yes, exactly. Coil whine. Regrettably, I'm sensitive to such sounds, and I'm 40 years old.

Does it have any sense to try ask replace my Air M1?

I don't have this problem with old Macbook 12 and old iMac 21.5" Retina 4K 2015 Late.

That is bad news if it truly if coil whine because it means they are using cheap components!

Does anybody else have this problem? This sound comes from the center of keyboard.

I'm trying to understand if I should try to replace my Air M1 or return it and wait for next Air M2 in future.

Return and get a new M1. Sometimes, a product coming off the mass product assembly line is not perfect and has a flaw. No need to wait for M2.

I have seen no other reports on the forum about this problem.

Hello!
And I have such a problem, when I play world of warcraft, my poppy heats up and starts making this sound. Are you going to contact Apple to replace your Mac?
