Hi there,

This is weird. I've noticed this only really since I got iOS7 (though this was more than a month ago as I used the betas). There appears to be some kind of discolouration around the edges of my iPhone's screen.

Take the status bar for example - in the messages app, the colour of the white of the status bar is slightly different to what is just underneath. And on the edges of the screen, there is a strip of about status-bar height that is slightly discoloured to the rest of the white on the screen. At first I thought this was meant to be, part of Apple's blur effects. But when I saw the outline appear around the whole edge of the screen, even on a blank white image in the photos app, I was confused.

The best way to describe the colour is a sort of slightly green hue. It might not be noticeable straight away, but once you see it you definitely know it's there.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem with my iPhone 5.

I booked a Genius appointment for this Friday, so will hopefully get it swapped, as my warranty is very nearly up.

Considering I bought this phone on launch day (a year ago) I don't think I have warranty left :/

Either way I am going to a place that has an Apple store this weekend so if nobody has any ideas I suppose a Genius appointment would be a good idea regardless.

I've the exact problem, and I've just noticed it today. I noticed it when I was reading email, and find there's this 5mm green stripe on the right. After careful looking I've found I've a whole FRAME!!!

I've made an appointment next Tuesday and hope they'll change it. Luckily my warrant is over at 29th of October.

I'm out of warranty (ah the perks of being a launch day customer) does this mean I just have to live with it? What if I show an Apple store employee?

I happened to notice that a few weeks ago and took it in and they swapped it out.

Quick question - what should I bring to a genius? I'm hoping to get one of the un-reserved slots since it's obviously a quick issue. Do I just bring my phone or would they expect me to bring the box, accessories etc for a possible swap-out?

Just left the apple store with a new iPhone 5 handset. Apple Genius sympathised with me re screen problem and gladly issued the replacement.

I just sent my 4s in for he same problem and hey sent it back to me and said there is no problem? I'm pretty torn. I live about 2 hours from an apple store so I'm trying to decide if I should go or not. Ever since iOS7 I can't stop looking at they bleed from the top of my screen.

I'm having a similar problem with my 5S. Its a warmer tone and the top and cooler at the bottom. Definitely not like that on my 5. I'm bringing both for a comparison to a genius today in hopes I can swap my 5S out. If the OS wasn't so white I don't think I would have even noticed.

Update: Just coming back from Amsterdam Apple store with a new iPhone 5. I just showed them my old phone with a white picture which helped revealing the greenish borders and they swapped it for a new one without question. The new one works and looks like a charm. Two extra thoughts:

1. My old phone didn't use any screen protectors nor cases. After 11 months of usage it has a lot tiny scratches (those that you can see only under strong light) and of course there are the infamous scuffs everywhere. But the feeling of handling the phone with the most naturalistic feeling was so worth it. No sticky plastic on the screen nor fat cases surrounding the phone. Now I'm looking at this new phone with perfect screen and chamfered edges, I don't have any feeling to "preserve" it all. After all, one year later it may broke again.

2. The new phone comes with iOS 6, and the moment I saw the old unlock screen, and then the old home screens, I almost puked - ios7 looks so much better. I'm definitely sure I prefer iOS 7's more clean and fresh look now.

Hi, thanks for letting me know this! I had a naked iPhone in a pouch case for half a year, then switched to a screen protector & slim case.

Apple have agreed to act as though my warranty isn't expired (Since I was only a few days out, and technically I can launch a consumer protection claim anyway) so my genius appointment is this weekend.
