I am shopping for a white iMac, either Core Duo or Core2Duo. Do either of these models have widespread issues I should know about? (ex: iBook G3 logic board-type issues)

Not to my knowledge. Those have been very reliable machines.

Be aware that the Core Duo models have a hard 2 GB RAM limit, which is rather restrictive these days. I wouldn't buy one for that reason.

The C2D models accept up to 4 GB, although if you install 4 GB you can only address about 3.3 GB of it. That is a considerably more comfortable amount.
