Ok, so my girlfriend plugs her iPhone in to charge it, and randomly, even though the batter is completely full, and it is still on the charger, her phone will display the alert that she only has 20% of her battery left, which is obviously not true. Any ideas? Prior issue?

Was she using it while it was charging?

Try using the phone until the battery dies and then xhaegebit full

Otherwise try restoring

Weird, she unplugged it from the computer it was charging on and the battery actually did show that she had low battery, and she got an alert saying there was only 10% left. She plugged it back in, i guess we'll see if it will charge now, if not, i guess we'll try restoring it.

How long was it charging for?

If it continues to do this after you charge it for hours then restore but its most likely you will need to take it back.
