I want and was planning on a white this time but I like the slate back much better than the plain aluminum. Wonder if the back is easily replaced and will 3ed party (or Apple) replacements be made soon?

I think the slate might give a good contrast on a white iPhone.

But it's not just the "back" as on the 4 and 4S.

The whole back is solid. The phone frame is a Unibody design. So you would have to take the display out and swap it with another frame. No idea on how easy that would be since iFixit hasn't gotten their hands on it, but i think it would be kind of a pain to do.

watch the video about how the new phone is assembled. makes me wonder about the possibility of even having your phone repaired outside of :apple:. the hacks on CL can barley put 3GS, 4 and 4S iPhones back together w/o the screens lifting.

The white version of the phone would've been a lot better looking with the "slate" colored bezel and back - would've been a nice contrast
