Hi!
I bought a MBP 16" with the following specs: 8-core 2.3Ghz i9, 5500m 8gb and 16gb ram in November,2019. The machine has been working flawlessly other than a very faint hinge noise when I open / close it, but since im working from home since the beginning of the year, the laptop has been acting as my desktop connected to my external 27" display (open clamshell mode) so its nothing that worries me + got AppleCare to fix it whenever I want to.
But since 10.15.6 (middle of august update?) I have noticed that there has been some weird white line glitch happening from time to time. hard to explain but it appears for 0.01 second on my external display, 5-10 cm long horizontal white line of pixels. I have only been able to capture it with my phone in slow motion. I have tested to use only the built in display for a few days and I experienced no glitching on it!! so the glitching only happens when I connect my external display.
I saw the huge thread on the Imac subform regarding an identical problem that seems to be fixed but still occurring on Mac Pro's and MacBook pro's with the 5500m according to some posts I've read on some other hardware focused forum / reddit...
Some solutions in that thread such as lowering resolution from the default for the external to the "second highest" option seems to be working.
100% guess this is software since it seems to only occurs when im using MacOS or using the default resolution on my external display.
So im just wondering, how many here has noticed this happening on their external display? Some people seem to be very sensitive to it and some don't care about it ...
