Howdy,

i just bought my White Macbook (Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M) in early May, 2009... (I know the new models just rolled out, and I am bummed :() But I have a question on RAM for the Macbook.

I have been doing some research and saw that people are saying my model can take 800 MHZ DDR2 RAM, I am looking to upgrade and I am curious if I can go this route. I want the best bang for my buck with this computer because in the fall I will be using it for school and I have to use VMware for Visual Studio.

Below are 2 links, one from another posting here (I searched around and found), and the other is what I am considering to buy.

I really want to go this route but I need clear cut answers if this does indeed work, and 800 MHZ DDR2 White Macbooks out there lol? Thanks...

i havent tested it but yea it works just 800mhz ram works just fine with your macbook for some reason apple just said 667mhz:rolleyes:

Understanding Intel Mac RAM - Mac Guides

800Mhz should work just fine.
# Starting with the Late 2008 MacBook (Unibody only) and MacBook Pro Most New Core Macs (nVidia chipset) use the same DDR3-1066 (PC3-8500) 204 pin SODIMMs. Again, as with previous generations, choosing RAM for one model will work in others. The exceptions here are the Late 2008 White MacBook which retains DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) 200 pin SODIMMs (although there are reports of success with DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) RAM running at full speed in these machines) and the Mid 2009 White MacBook which officially supports DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) 200 pin SODIMMs.

The new one, that was just released with the 2.13ghz processor supports 800Mhz ram..

I understand that... I bought mine a few weeks earlier so I have the 2.0 processor, are you implying that I shouldn't buy it? The posts below you seem to say I can...

I just want to make sure, as I am brand new to the whole mac scene.

The current 2.13 GHz P7450 WhiteBook supports 800 MHz officially.

Supposedly you can just clock up the older 2.0 GHz P7350 model by just installing DDR2-800 RAM.

I've found that most Macs will clock down appropriately to slower speed RAM in a pinch. (e.g. 667 -> 533 MHz) With RAM prices today it's rare that you'll need to do this. Then again I do have 4 GB of DDR2-667 already. Maybe I'll get a new Macbook for Christmas.

Thanks for that info.

I just don't want to screw up my Macbook... I'm kind of "iffy" only because I read rumors on it and was curious if anyone has one like mine with 800 that is working perfect (clocked at 800).

I think I am going to go ahead and bite on it because it seems as though I can't really lose... I'm still a little scared!
