So now that some of you have had the white MKB for a couple of weeks, how has the white colour held up? For those who have had the black version, do you feel that the white will be less or more of a dirt magnet going by your experience so far?

If I am not mistaken, both are made from the same material. As such the durability should be the same (as to being a dirt magnet). It really just comes down to color preference.

Same material, but white will naturally hide some of the smudges and hand grease that the black Magic Keyboard would pick up if you looked at it the wrong way.

But it’s also… white. So it’s bound to collect some wear and dirt over time. Question really comes down to how easy it is to clean. Will it permanently darken over time? I’ve read posts of people using a magic eraser on previous white Apple cases to remove more significant stains. Dunno how viable that’ll be for the MKB. Two weeks is probably still early, as I’m sure many owners are still babying the thing.

I have the magic keyboard in white and still looks like new. I have an iPhone 12 Pro with white Apple case since last fall and still looks like new. With my experience, the white actually looks cleaner and less shiny/grimy than the black.

I have always chosen white keyboards over black exactly because they didn’t show the dirt. Even if I could only buy a mechanical keyboard in black, I would change the key caps to white.

I am sure the white will show wear just like the black model. I think a lot of people may be more careful because of the white color. As you say, time will tell and it is all subjective to begin with.

Now that we are beyond the 14 day return period (if you bought on launch day), is anyone interested in trading their 11” white magic keyboard for a black? I have a black magic keyboard that I’m going to get replaced via AppleCare+. They’ll provide a brand new one, but before I unwrap it I wanted to see if anyone was interested in trading colors. If interested DM or reply and we’ll talk.

I have bought black on day 1 with my IPP pro 12.9 thinking that white will not last clean as black one, i am still not sure that is true but I couldn’t resist the beauty of the white one matched with space gray IPP so i bought the white one as well today. I will just use mate white skin which supposedly will resist the stains and coloring.
Still not sure if i wanna keep the black one or sell it as this thing cost 440$ where i live.

Both keyboards are the same material so I would think would collect dirt at the same rate. However, the white is less likely to show the dust, dirt and grime as easily as the dark grey. Just like someone else said, a black car shows the dirt much quicker than a white car. My white one still looks like new and I haven’t cleaned it yet.

I’m going to try a white one this time for my iPad Pro as the black keys on my old one went very shiny and seemed to pick up loads of smudges and dust - same with the trackpad.

I think the white keys will fare better, but am still tempted to skin the outside of it.

I’ve been using this for about a week now and I really love the look of the white colour they’ve gone with. With the silver iPad, its such a refreshing change compared to the last however-many-years of space grey.

I did try a white skin on it, but it was just jarring and I really didn’t like it so have removed it. I do think the material feels a bit different to the last grey Magic Keyboard I had, but that could just be because I had a skin on it from day one so am not recalling it correctly.
