About a month ago when I updated to a beta macOS Tahoe, I started noticing a persistent white pixel directly in the middle of my screen. It shows up after a couple minutes of use and stays visible on everything—apps, windows, backgrounds—regardless of what’s on the screen.

The only time it disappears is when the mouse pointer or text cursor is directly over it. If I restart my Mac, it reappears again after a few minutes.

It’s always in the exact center of the display. Has anyone else experienced this on the beta?

I also experienced this, but it came and went when I locked/woke my MacBook. Sometimes it would be there, sometimes it wouldn't. I haven't seen it for a couple betas now

I saw something like this several years ago, and it turned out to be a window that was getting produced by "BackgroundTaskManagementAgent". I used the Accessibility Inspector application (part of the developer tools you get with Xcode) to track down the culprit – open Accessibility Inspector (Xcode application menu > Open Developer Tool > Accessibility Inspector), then hover the mouse over the white pixel and see if it identifies a window and the associated application.

Actually, I wonder if it's the same issue that I ran into several years ago. I looked up my bug report and ran through the same steps, and sure enough, that 1x29 pixel window returned. In my case, though, it doesn't stick around.

Did your white pixel show up when System Settings asked you to authenticate, e.g. to allow an application to run in the background? If you terminate the BackgroundTaskManagementAgent service in Activity Monitor, does the white pixel go away?

Nothing seems to happen when I terminate the BackgroundTaskManagementAgent service in Activity Monitor. The Pixel still is present. I did go through terminal and I restarted WindowServer and that seems to have fixed the problem. The Pixel has not show up yet
