Currently my MBP (15" Retina bought in June 2012) getting this 'WHITE SCREEN' after idling for about 10mins or when re-open the lid. There is nothing on the screen except just 'WHITE' and NOT even the mouse pointer or cursor.

NO respond on the keyboard so have to press & hold the switch-ON button to restart. Then only back to normal.......but after idling again then same WHITE-SCREEN.

Does anyone experience this problem ? Appreciate your feedback....thanks

What I would do is I will boot from my recovery Partition and will start backing up my files. I will then reformat my computer and see if it will fix the problem.

Trying to look ahead....

Your data will be erased and gone and you will start from scratch (i.e you need to reinstall apps, restore your back up).

I have a feeling that it is going to be fixed by a reformat.

By the way, prior doing that. Did you upgrade your memory or hard drive recently?

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
No upgrade yet, just stock standard.

Got the same issue after installing yosemite. SOLVED!

After installing yosemite on my macbook pro retina, i got the same problem. The machine was having a problem with choosing boot-up disk.
I removed yosemite but the problem was still there. So i reformatted my whole machine and now the problem is gone.
Hope this helps. :)

any idea how to determine if it's harddrive problem or if it's the logic board?

can't believe it broke after only three years of use.
