I'm sure this has been mentioned hundreds of times but I've never encountered someone who had the same issue as me.
I broke my ipod touch in March, the screen has several huge cracks but worked fine because the screen protector was holding it in place. I haven't had any issues with my ipod since but this morning I installed a new app(Windows Live Messenger) and suddenly I got the white screen of death, I tried everything that to fix it from restoring through Itunes to holding the home and sleep button simultaneously. I don't know if I did the last thing correctly because my sleep button doesn't function properly and I have to really push on it to get it to work.
Is this a software problem or a delayed hardware problem? And will the person in the apple store know what it is by looking at it or will they just blame it on hardware because of the obviously damaged screen. Since it's out of warranty and I don't want to pay money for them to tell me that it could have been fixed without sending it to the main office.
