So early last week or so my 4th gen iPod Touch began to White Screen of Death on me. It would do it randomly, sometimes while reading wikipedia, other times right after a fresh reboot. Sometimes it would white screen multiple times before telling me to plug it in to iTunes (which solved nothing). I tried doing a fresh restore but that did not solve the problem either.

Any ideas?

This very well could just be a issue with the connection from your LCD to your Logic Board. When a loose LCD isn't making a full connection it turns the LCD White.

Is the device Jailbroken?

Has it been exposed to any water or excessive heat? Dropped?

It's not jailbroken.

As for excessive heat, the night before it starting occuring I was sleeping on top of it (I usually fall asleep reading the news on it) and when I woke up I noticed the battery was completely drained (it was near full the night before).

You should try to take it to Apple and tell them what you told us. If they wont help you, I would check for an online or local repair shop for a thorough diagnosis of your iPod touch.

Cheers!
